One of my poems after Sufi ideal of "Die before you die!"

Nightfall II

Your imperial palace of musty corridors, your second self,
Inch by inch the movement of your eyes
Dies before you die…
A fountain decked with peacock feathers, flowing with transparent envy
Rather than water for your thirsty brother who
Dies before you die…
The chamber you put fire to, is decorated with gilded mirrors
Their gold brighter than the fire, they extinguish yours, the last smile
Dies before you die.
Death on his familiar torso projects like the tower of Babel
Over you, over him; brothers, same blood makes awkward enemies
Who die before you die…
The sizzling meat of your body, from either joy or agony.
Live like a rooster among yellow off-spring, be a single eye on a peafowl’s tail
and die before the nightfall .
